the story behind kimberley creates

My work is rooted in the belief that creativity is essential for mental and emotional wellbeing and a pathway back to self-connection, balance, and joy.

After studying Criminology and Psychology at university, I found myself quickly climbing the corporate ladder. But as my success grew, my creativity faded and so did my wellbeing. Realising something vital was missing, I took time out to travel and rediscover myself.

Through that journey, I reconnected with my creative spirit and witnessed how art and self-expression could heal from within. This inspired me to study Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy in Australia, where I learned how creativity could transform not only personal wellbeing but whole communities.

Not long after, I began leading my own workshops as part of seven-day wellness retreats in Mexico, guiding groups through creative and holistic practices designed to nurture presence, confidence, and connection.

Now back in the UK — and a mother — my work has evolved to meet people where they need it most: within the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Through my sessions, workshops, and projects, I help both children and adults slow down, express themselves, and experience the profound benefits of creativity for mental health and wellbeing.

What is holistic integrated creative arts therapy?

Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy (HICAT) is a multimodal approach to using the arts for therapeutic benefit.

It can include the use of art, music, drama, poetry, creative writing, storytelling, craft-making, sculpture, sand-play, and any other activity which engages the person’s creativity.

A person is not required to have any artistic ability to use or benefit from HICAT.

Holistic Therapists work with the whole person - including mind, body, emotions and spirit. We assist people in becoming self-empowered by supporting you on a journey of self-exploration and personal growth.

Holistic Integrated Creative Arts Therapy connects clinical research with traditional ancient wisdom - developing the mind, expanding creativity, building confidence and self-awareness, connecting with the inner child and awakening the spirit.

Art and love are the same thing: It’s the process of seeing yourself in things that are not you.
